Treatment Approach

I believe you are the expert on your own life, and that your feelings of empowerment are critical to success in therapy. I strive to create an open and warm environment for you to feel safe enough to explore challenging topics. I invite clients to explore their possible resistance towards therapy, or feelings of discomfort, with the goal of creating an exceptionally strong therapeutic bond. I believe that we are all imperfect beings, and experiences can cause us to question our self-worth and purpose. Ultimately, I believe in a collaborative process that is client-led, strengths-based and characterized by mutual respect and genuine compassion. I am an empathetic, insightful, inclusive, and caring individual who is respectful and sensitive towards cultural diversity and individual differences. Through attentive sessions, I assist my clients in making sense of their life experiences and identifying their strengths. I believe strongly in approaching therapy from a social justice perspective, recognizing the ways that social structures and inequalities can impact us.

Areas of Expertise

My fifteen years of experience in human services has allowed me to work with diverse communities including LGBTQIA+, human trafficking, parolees, Hispanic, multiracial, women, homeless, undocumented immigrants, and people who suffer from substance use. My clinical interests include working with marginalized/minority populations, women's concerns, and multiracial families. I have experience working with inter-generational trauma, anxiety, depression, infertility, and grief & loss. I am passionate about working with college students who are experiencing difficulties transitioning into adulthood, adjusting to the demands of rigorous academic programs, and feeling overwhelmed with re-framed definitions of success. I am also passionate about working with mothers entering the work force while balancing family, work and career, and with couples to change unhealthy, unhelpful and painful patterns in relationships

Therapeutic Orientation

I am passionate about the mind-body connection and my approach reflects an interest in holistic forms of healing. I utilize integrative therapy, which includes incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness-based practices into therapy sessions. In my work I draw from Psychodynamic, Existential, Feminist, and Person-Centered (Rogerian) theories. For clients who wish to integrate faith in their treatment, I also provide Christian counseling.

About Me

My personal passions are learning about home remedies and home skin care treatments, backpacking, camping, national parks, trying new foods, religious studies, worship, and being a mother and wife. I truly enjoy my profession and am passionate about helping individuals find peace and enhance their overall well-being.
