Treatment Approach

I believe that individuals can thrive when they are in a space in which they feel understood, where empathy is shown, and active listening is felt. In the world today, it is difficult to find someone that can help one feel heard. I believe it is important that a client feels heard and appreciated. My goal in session is to help the individual feel listened to, and supported. I believe that sessions can be collaborative by providing a safe space in therapy that is open to feedback by clients about how sessions are going from time to time to help ensure that therapy goals are being accomplished.

Areas of Expertise

I have experience working with individuals ages from five years old to elderly persons. I have facilitated therapy groups for people who struggle with mood disorders such bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. I have worked with individuals who have severe to mild depression, anxiety disorders, grief, abuse, divorce, substance use, domestic violence, anger management, and relationship problems. I have worked with individuals from different religions, and multicultural backgrounds.

Therapeutic Orientation

The approaches I use with clients are cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), client centered therapy, mindfulness, and strength based approaches. I am open to discussion about other approaches that can help in sessions.
