VIDEO THERAPY
Does your schedule or location make it difficult for you to come in for an in-person appointment? Positive Methods offers HIPPA-compliant online video therapy sessions.
Equipment You’ll Need:
Smartphone, laptop, desktop computer, or Mac that is 3 years old or newer. Older devices may not be able to run web conferencing software properly.
Reliable, modern Internet connection. Recommended: Connect directly to the router using an Ethernet cable for wired Internet, but a wireless network should work as well.
Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser
Webcam. Most recent laptops have built-in webcams which work great for online therapy sessions. If you have a desktop PC or Marc without one, you can purchase an external webcam.
How to Connect to Your Online Video Therapy Session:
Your therapist will text or email you a video link prior to your appointment.
Click on the link in Chrome or Firefox Internet Browser.
Enter your name and click Enter/Join to enter the virtual waiting room.
Allow access to the video by clicking on “Enable Camera”.
Your computer may show a message asking permission confirmation to access your microphone and camera. Select Allow.
Once you have entered the virtual waiting room, the therapist will be notified and will allow you access to the virtual treatment room at your appointment time.
Helpful Tips:
Be on time. The same policies apply to in-office sessions.
Set up/connect 5-10 minutes before the appointment start time, especially your first time to ensure you are able to connect successfully.
Use earbuds or headphones with a microphone if available. This helps to avoid feedback and background noises.
Only have one browser window open if you are using a laptop or desktop computer.
If the video quality is a challenge, you can turn off the video and continue the session with audio only.
Ensure you have a space with privacy during the session to be free of distractions and allow you to be candid.
Session duration and fees are the same as in-office sessions.
Cancellation policy applies to online sessions.
If you have difficulty logging in, contact your therapist immediately.
